2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Revealed at the 2023 NYIAS

Transcript

ZAC PALMER: Zac Palmer here at the New York Auto Show. Now, right here, we have the 2024 Jeep Wrangler that gets a little bit of a refresh. Now, the exterior styling is pretty much exactly the same as it always has been because it's a Wrangler and that's what works.

But under the skin and inside, we have a few really notable changes. This one that we're looking at here is the 4xe model. One thing with that for '24 is they add a new, more affordable Sport S trim, which is really great. And also, the 4xe gets a little vehicle-to-load feature, which allows you to sort of pull, like, an F-150 powerboost type trick and plug in a lot of electronics staying at a campsite, tailgating, and whatnot.

You can use the high voltage battery, and it'll even fire on the engine to recharge the high voltage battery and continue to provide power to a lot of your items. Now, the Rubicon model also gets a floating rear axle, which allows Jeep to raise the towing rating. But I really think the big story here is when we hop inside and look at the new screen and interior. So let's go there.

So in the interior here, the big change is this huge Uconnect 5 screen. So Jeep actually had to redesign the center stack here around that screen because, well, it's huge and completely differently shaped from the previous one. But the fact that we have Uconnect 5 in the Wrangler is a great thing that brings Stellantis's best infotainment tech to us. It's a lot classier system, a lot faster, a lot nicer looking than the previous Uconnect 4.

And it also means a slightly different looking center stack here, which, you know, it's still done in very Wrangler-esque fashion, but it is a little bit nicer than before. Another big interior change, we actually added side airbags. Now, that's to keep up with the Bronco, of course. It also offers side airbags.

And that really is the theme of this little Wrangler refresh that we have going. There's the Rubicon X, which is, like, a fully loaded Rubicon with everything on it. You have the 4xe, the cheaper one, to sort of do a value play, and the tech. The Bronco was way ahead in tech before, but now, the Wrangler is right around there with this new Uconnect 5 screen.

And yeah, those are the changes for the '24 Wrangler. Just make it a little more competitive. And I really can't wait to get our hands on this and test it out some more and get it off-road versus the Bronco.
